Surprisingly flawed but still worthwhile

Dry as dust. This work probably deserved 2 and 1/2 stars but since there was no such option I rounded up. You will find some good explanations of why Masons use symbols and of the social nature of humans that requires us to bond in such fraternal groups. The reader will also be reminded that the primary teaching of Freemasonry is liberty of the mind. The problem is that your mind will be somewhat numb by the time you find this out.
Again, there are bits of gold to be found it just takes some digging. At times it will seem like this book is eight hundred pages long. This is a book for a true Masonic scholar and is not for everyone.

Projects & methods are outdated
Rather disappointed.
A Good Book for Beginners at Crazy QuiltingThe projects include a tea cozy, quilt, toaster cover, purse, Christmas stocking, and (among others) a shopping bag.
I got this book as one of the first CQ books in my library, and it was a help to me, even though I had to buy others to expand my knowledge. This is a good book for basics. The pictures are all in black and white, and while it may LOOK outdated, with modern materials, these ideas and techniques are helpful

What is surprising though is the awful typography - yes, this is important because firstly the fonts used for this book don't appear to have the very important Old Norse letter eth - ð - resulting in using eths from another font (which looks absolutely awful) and secondly, all the very important Scandinavian letters like ö and ä are used seemingly at random - sometimes words have them and sometimes they don't. This is not a minor detail: it amounts essentially to misspelling important place names and the like. Whether this is the author's or the publisher's fault I don't know.
Furthermore, anglicization of Scandinavian names and words is bad enough, but even worse when it is done inconsistently, as in this book - some names are given in Old Norse, others in their modern English "equivalents". Very sloppy and strange.
